How to Measure Your Own Nails At Home
How to Measure Your Own Nails at Home
Note: We recommend a Sizing Kit as the most accurate way to find your best fit. Please double-check all measurements if you choose to measure you own nails at home. Returns and Refunds are not accepted due to inaccurate size selections.
Option 1:
Step 1
Use a piece of basic piece of tape and firmly press across the widest part of your nail. Mark a line against the very edges of the widest part of your nail, on both sides. Be sure that you are not marking on top of where your side walls/skin meet the nail. Nail tips should fit snuggly from edge to edge without touching the side walls, so this step is the most important. Repeat for all nails on both hands.
Step 2
Use the pieces of tape and your markings to measure the width of each nail against a ruler. Measure in millimeters (mm) to get the finest detail possible. All of our nail tip measurements indicate the inner curve of the nail tip, at the widest part. You are trying to get exact matches for those measurements. If you are in between sizes, ex: 12.5mm and we indicate 12mm and 13mm, we recommend going up to the larger size for the most comfortable fit.
Option 2:
Step 1
Use a paper or cloth measuring tape and press firmly across the widest part of your nail. Take note of the exact millimeters from edge to edge of the widest part of each of your nails, for all 10 fingers. Be sure that you are not extending the measurements past the nail edges. Nail tips should fit snuggly from edge to edge of the nail without touching the side walls/skin, so this step is the most important. Repeat for all nails on both hands.
Note: This method is harder to do ACCURATELY on your own, we suggest Option 1 (above) if you are attempting this by yourself.
Step 2
Document your self-measurements in millimeters (mm) to get the finest detail possible.
For Both Options:
It is very normal to have different sized nails, even for similar fingers, between both hands. Make note of all 10 nail sizes, in millimeters, labeled:
Left Hand - Thumb, Index, Middle, Ring, and Pinky
Right Hand - Thumb, Index, Middle, Ring, and Pinky
Now that you have all of your personal measurements, you can check out our Standard Sized Sets and Sizing Chart. You will, hopefully, be able to now determine if the best is select one of our Standard Sizes or if Custom Sizes would be better for you. If you are unsure, we still recommend ordering a sizing kit of your desired shape/length of nail tips.
